June 3: A Short Update And an Unexpected Break (But Not As Bad As Earlier Breaks)
Well, this has been a bit of an unexpected break, and delay on me starting to learn game development. The reason for this one isn't NEARLY as bad as the other breaks, though. I'll just get the reason for the delay out of the way, first. I'll also make this one a bit shorter than usual.
I was going to start learning game development again about a month ago, but the release of Blue Prince completely blindsided me and I wanted to play through it first. I DID know about the game before, but honestly didn't know the release date, so the game's release came out of left field for me. I'm honestly kind of glad I played it, as the game's puzzles gave me a few ideas for my dream game, Errorgrove Isle. I've since beaten everything in the game, actually using a guide (mainly in a way to minimise spoilers and push me in the right direction) to speed things up a bit so I can start learning game development again quicker.
I'll probably wait another day or two before starting for real, using that one tutorial I mentioned for making a Vampire Survivors-like, using the tutrial as a base then adding some of my own ideas on top of it (and probably looking for other free assets instead of the ones included in the tutorial, or try making my own). Who knows, I may end up releasing it if I feel like it's good enough while being transparent about how I used the tutorial as a base? I'm definately going to make it free if I release it, alongside all the other short games I may release that I made to practice my skills.
As for that graphics card issue I've been having, it's still happening. Over time I've noticed that it seems to trigger more often rendering bright solid colors of all things. It hasn't been getting noticably better or worse, though, so that's good.
Anyway, I wanted to get this update out before the new Deltarune chapters release. It won't actually affect me learning game development like Blue Prince did, mainly due to having a bit more time, but it did still feel like it would be a good idea to get an update out before then anyway. Sorry about the shorter update this time, as I didn't really have anything else worth mentioning or that I would want to mention about Errorgrove Isle yet as I still want to wait until I flesh out that game's setting and characters more before sharing more about it, and maybe even get into art and make some concept art. Anyway, I might start updating this site more often (I've honestly been putting it off), and maybe go over what I've done for my practice game in the next post.
